Upon his secondary school graduation, Willem continued studies in piano performance at Acadia University (Wolfville, Nova Scotia), and soon after moved to Montreal to study with pedagogue Marc Durand.
Willem now lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he is an active member in the music community, working regularly as a teacher, accompanist and solo performer. He has been involved with local chamber music festival Scotia Festival of Music (participating in their Young Artist Program), with the early music society Musique Royale, and has also programmed and performed two solo recitals as part of the Music Room Chamber Music Society. Currently, he is completing music studies at Dalhousie University, studying with Lynn Stodola.
